Short biography

Sergei Mar chenko is the Minister of Finance of Ukraine.

Brief biography

Marchenko was born on January 24, 1981 in Makarov village of Kiev region.

He received his higher education at the Academy of the State Tax Service of Ukraine, receiving in 2002 a master's degree in public finance management.

In 2009 he became a Candidate of Science (Ph.D.) in Economics, with a thesis on Ukrainian Government Eurobond Borrowings in the International Capital Market.

Since 2002 he has held various positions in the Ministry of Finance, State Tax Administration and the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Since 2011 he worked in the Coordination Center for Implementation of Reforms under the President of Ukraine.

From May 27, 2016 to July 26, 2018, he was Deputy Minister of Finance.

From August 31, 2018 to May 19, 2019, he served as Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of Ukraine Igor Raynin.

In 2019 he tried to get into the Verkhovna Rada of the ninth convocation on the list of the party "Ukrainian Strategy of Groisman". However, the party lost the election.

Failure of appointment and repeat voting

On March 30, 2020, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Igor Umansky from his position as finance minister. But then failed to appoint Serhiy Marchenko as the new minister.

A few hours later, however, Marchenko was still appointed minister.

Family

Sergei Marchenko is married. Together with his wife Maria raises his daughter Aurora and son Leonid.
