Details about the new "Avatar" have been revealed: Cameron shows some footage

Fans of the epic "Avatar" saga will once again plunge into the fantastic world of Pandora. Director James Cameron has confirmed that the third part of "Avatar: Fire and Ash" will be released at the end of 2025, on December 19.

After the incredible success of "Avatar" and its sequel Avatar: The Way of Water," the new story will open up even more spectacular locations and unexplored cultures of the Na'vi. This time, Jake Sully and his family will travel to a new clan that has its vision of harmony with nature. However, this meeting may lead to unpredictable consequences.

The new issue of Empire magazine features an exclusive interview with Cameron, as well as fresh conceptual designs for the upcoming film. One of the key discoveries was the "Ash Clan" – a Na'vi community that has survived severe trials and has a tough leader. It is led by Varang, played by Oona Chaplin. Cameron emphasized that this character is not an unambiguous antagonist, and her motives are deeper than they seem at first glance.

"Varang is a leader who has gone through hard times and has been hardened by the struggle. She is ready to do anything for her people, even to do things that may seem cruel," said the director. According to him, in the third part of the saga, there will be no traditional division into "good" and "bad" characters. While in the previous films, the main threat was humans, this time the conflict may arise among the Na'vi themselves.

In addition to the "Ash Clan," the film will feature other unusual inhabitants of Pandora – wind traders. They are nomads of sorts who travel the sky on huge creatures. Cameron compared them to the caravans that crossed the medieval Spice Road. The director also noted that these characters will add a new, lighter, and more exciting aspect to the story.

According to Cameron, Oona Chaplin played her role so skillfully that her talent became even more noticeable after the animation was finalized. Varang will be a serious rival for Jake Sully, but her image will not be limited to the conflict side. "She's an enemy, but Chaplin has made her real and alive," the director emphasized.

As in the previous installments, the film will feature a detailed world of Pandora and its unique inhabitants. Cameron promised that the scenes of flying on the giant creatures of the wind merchants would be another visual wonder of the series.

We would like to remind you that the second part, "Avatar: The Way of Water," has grossed over $2 billion at the global box office. Given the success of the previous films, expectations for "Fire and Ash" are incredibly high.

"Avatar: Fire and Ash" will be the third of five planned films in the franchise. The fourth and fifth parts are also in development, and Cameron continues to work on expanding this grandiose cinematic universe.
