"Complete lawlessness": Russian MMA fighter warns what they can do to Usyk in rematch with Fury
Mixed martial arts fighter Artem Reznikov has expressed confidence that Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) will face unfair judging in his rematch with Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs). The Kazakhstani athlete, who considers himself Russian by nationality and fights for the Russian promotion ASA, noted that he was prompted to this opinion by the course of the first fight between the boxers.
Reznikov said this in an interview with MMA.Metaratings.ru. The 32-year-old lightweight added that Usyk will have a psychological advantage over the Briton and will be considered a favorite given the knockdown that Alexander delivered to Fury on May 18.
"He's already been judged. He only beat Fury by one point. I did not see such an equal fight. One judge even gave the victory to Tyson. I saw a clear victory for Oleksandr Usyk. In boxing, sometimes you are amazed by such moments. You think: "You're not a boxer yourself, you don't understand." You read the comments and everyone says it's a complete mess. Anyone can win. Usyk has a moral advantage. He was faster and knocked Fury down. Tyson didn't work until the sixth round, he was saving his strength and standing. It's easier to win in a rematch for the one who won," Reznikov said.
As a reminder, the rematch between Usyk and Fury will take place on December 21. In the first fight, Oleksandr defeated Tyson by split decision - 114:113, 113:114, 115:112 - and became the absolute world heavyweight champion.
A month after the fight, on May 18, the Ukrainian was forced to give up the International Boxing Federation (IBF) belt, which was defended by Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) on September 21, brutally knocking out Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs).
Before that, Oleksandr spoke categorically about what would happen if Tyson tried to disrupt the rematch. He also shared his expectations for the second fight with Fury and responded to accusations of cheating during the May 18 fight. In addition, Oleksandr told what he learned from this fight.
The legendary Volodymyr Klitschko shared his expectations from the rematch between Usyk and Fury. And ex-champion Amir Khan disagreed with the forecasts for the fighters' second fight. In addition, Russian Alexander Povetkin attributed the success of our compatriot to Russia.
In turn, Russian boxing coach Andrei Ivichuk called Tyson the winner of the upcoming rematch with Alexander. And the Ukrainian named the only boxer he is interested in fighting after the second fight with the Briton.
