Christopher Nolan left Cillian Murphy a touching note on the Oppenheimer script
Cillian Murphy, the star of Peaky Blinders, has an incredibly pleasant and friendly relationship with director Christopher Nolan, in whose films the actor has played 6 times. He received the first copy of the script for Oppenheimer from Nolan with a small note that cannot but touch him.
In an interview with 60 Minutes, Cillian Murphy told how he was offered a role in the movie for the sixth time, but this time as the main character. The actor's performance in Oppenheimer touched the audience so much that he even won the Golden Globe 2024 for Best Actor and the BAFTA 2024 for Best Actor.
"Chris came to see me in Dublin, he called me on the phone and we talked about it. And then he came from America and brought it [the script] to me in Dublin and then he left. I read it in his hotel room," Murphy said about the first copy of the script for one of the most important films of 2023.
An important message from Nolan was written on the cover, saying, "Dearest Cillian. Finally, a chance to see you lead... Love, Chris."
Interestingly, the script is printed on red paper, which is quite strange and unusual. Murphy says it's typical for a director to type with black ink on red paper.
"They always type on red paper with black ink, I think it is done to prevent photocopying. He always had a tradition of printing on red paper with black ink. My name is kind of watermarked on each page," the actor explained.
As we noted earlier, this is the sixth time Cillian Murphy has appeared in Christopher Nolan's films. You can see the list of their joint projects below.
