"Avatar: Fire and Ash". When will James Cameron's threequel be released and what will it be about?
Next December, the threequel to James Cameron's grand sci-fi saga Avatar is due to be released. And the project director has finally revealed new details of the upcoming film.
The director revealed the first details at the Disney D23 conference. Cameron appeared on stage with the main stars of Avatar, Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington. According to Deadline, they revealed the subtitle of the threequel - the film will be called Avatar 3: Fire and Ash.
"New cultures and environments... you're going to see more of the planet Pandora than you've seen before. The new movie is not what you expect, but it's definitely what you want," Cameron said about the upcoming premiere.
Earlier, the director told us that he plans to turn everything in the Na'vi universe upside down. Previously, he showed humans as negative characters, while describing blue aliens as kind and responsive. "In Avatar 3, we're going to do the opposite," Cameron promised.
Several shots he showed at D23 confirm this information. In particular, we can see the ominous Na'vi dancing around a fire. Cameron also showed a flying ship surrounded by ikrans, the creatures that move the inhabitants of Pandora in the air.
In his earlier comments, the director said that he had already shown the audience the land and sea Na'vi - Omaticaya and Metcayin. The third part will tell about two new cultures of these aliens.
It is planned that most of the actors from the previous films will return to their roles in Avatar 3. The audience will see Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Joel David Moore, Stephen Lang and others. Game of Thrones star Una Chaplin will be a newcomer to the universe. She will play the leader of the Na'vi named Waranga.
It is known that Avatar 3: Fire and Ash will be released in Ukraine simultaneously with the rest of the world. The premiere is scheduled for December 18, 2025.
