A sensational turn in Usyk's career
WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) intends to devote part of his career to science. The 38-year-old boxer is going to get a PhD in science.
The information that Oleksandr is preparing to defend his dissertation appeared in the system of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance.
Usyk wrote a research paper on "Administrative and Legal Support for International Cooperation in the Field of Physical Culture and Sports." The research focuses on the legal aspects of cooperation between countries in the field of sports, regulation of international competitions, and cooperation between sports organizations.

The defense will take place at the Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs (KhNUIA). Usyk studied there as a postgraduate student majoring in law. If the defense is successful, the boxer will receive a doctorate in philosophy, which is the equivalent of a PhD.

Oleksandr Usyk is known not only for his achievements in boxing but also for his active interest in education. He previously received a master's degree in psychology. Now the champion is seeking to deepen his knowledge in the legal field related to international sports.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, a few days ago Usyk said he was ready to fight the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira (12-2, 10 KOs). The Ukrainian added that he has only two fights left and expressed interest in a "showdown" with the mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter.
The undefeated Ukrainian admitted that he plans to first meet the winner of the fight between Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker, which will take place on February 22 as part of the Riyadh Season tournament. After that, a "showdown" with Pereira is possible.
