On Friday, March 31, on the anniversary of the liberation of Bucha in the Kyiv region from the Russian occupation army, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in the city together with foreign partners. First of all, the politicians paid tribute to the memory of civilian Ukrainians who died at the hands of Putin's army during the 33 days of occupation.

Photos and videos from the event were published by the Presidential Office. President of Moldova Maia Sandu, Prime Minister of Slovenia Robert Golob, Prime Minister of Slovakia Eduard Geger, and Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković arrived in Bucha along with the President.

Also on that day, the national flag was raised on a huge flagpole and memorial signs were installed at the intersection of the Bucha exit towards Vorzel as a symbol of gratitude to the units that heroically resisted the occupiers.

President Zelenskyy also presented awards to the defenders of Kyiv region:

- Senior Sergeant Serhiy Vasich was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine (posthumously);

- Medic Tertyanyi was awarded the honorary title of Honoured Doctor of Ukraine.

On March 3, 2022, the defenders of Bucha fought against the superior Russian armoured forces at this very spot.

According to Aktuality.sk, a Slovak delegation led by Prime Minister Eduard Heger arrived in Ukraine by train on the night of March 31. The politician intends to hold talks with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss assistance to Kyiv and our country's integration into the European Union.

"We have our own experience in this. We were also a country that needed the help of other countries to catch up with a late train," Häger explained.

He was accompanied by Defence Minister Jaroslav Nadi, who confirmed that Slovakia had already handed over a part of the Kub SAM along with fighter jets to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. At the same time, he said that he was in talks with Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov about another possibility of military assistance. This is also being discussed within the Ramstein format, a group of states that support the country militarily.

"It is true that the capabilities of the Slovak Republic are already limited. What we can play a key role in is the production of ammunition at our factories," Nadi added.

Recall that on the anniversary of Bucha's liberation from Russian occupation, Zelensky reminded the world of the war crimes committed by the aggressor state's army. The settlement, located just 33 km from the Ukrainian capital, has become a symbol of the atrocities committed by Putin's troops.

The President noted that over 33 days of occupation, Russians had brutally killed 1400 civilian Ukrainians, including 37 children.

"More than 175 people were found in mass graves and torture chambers. 9000 Russian war crimes," Zelenskyy added.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported:

- "These days, Ukraine is celebrating the first anniversary of the liberation of the Kyiv region from Russian occupation. The Russians left particularly terrible traces in the town of Bucha, just 33 km from Kyiv. OBOZREVATEL recalled how it happened;
