The EU will learn from Ukraine: Paris assessed the functionality of Diia

The team of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine presented the possibilities of using the Diia public services application for the development of the European Digital Wallet. The Ukrainian program became a contender for recognition as an official implementation of such a mobile application.

Diia was demonstrated to the participants of the international consortium of digital identification POTENTIAL held in Paris. They were shown how to use the application to open bank accounts, how to create and use a qualified electronic signature and digital documents, the Ministry of Digital Identity said.

Forum participants repeatedly noted in their reports and presentations the tangible progress in digitalization that Ukraine is making on its way to the EU even despite the full-scale Russian invasion. Our state received a special distinction from the French Minister of Digital Technologies Jean-Noël Barrot.

"Thank you for the high appreciation of the Ukrainian product. It is great that it is technological developments that bring Ukraine closer to the EU," Mikhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, wrote on his Telegram.

POTENTIAL (PilOTs for European Digital Identity Wallet) is a consortium of 19 European countries that aims to improve citizens' access to reliable and secure means of electronic identification and services. In particular, in the development and implementation of the European Digital Identity Wallet.

This mobile product allows users to store and use their identification data in electronic form and share it in their own country or abroad to receive various types of services. In particular, we are talking about driver's license and medical prescriptions in the phone, electronic signature, as well as the ability to conveniently and securely open a bank account online.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Ukrainians have a lot of public services in Diia. However, according to Mikhailo Fedorov, soon 5 new functions will appear in the application. Innovations will affect motorists and depositors of bankrupt banks and will have "a powerful anti-corruption effect and save a lot of time for citizens".
