Legendary Dynamo Kyiv footballer Yozhef Sabo has criticised the Ukrainian national team for their match against England at the start of the 2024 European Championship qualifying tournament. The former head coach of the White and Blues and the national team emphasised that coach Ruslan Rotan's men showed nothing in attack and did not strike a single shot on target against British goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Sabo shared his emotions about the match at Wembley with 1927.kiev.ua. He was also horrified by the appearance of 33-year-old midfielder Yevhen Konoplyanka, who came on as a substitute in the 90th minute. The Dynamo legend called Rotan's move shameful.

"This is the weakest game of our national team. You can't play like that. For me, this is not football. Let them criticise me as they want, but I believe that this is not the kind of football that the national team needs. It is better to concede five and score two. You can see that there is an attack. Our national team does not know what an attack is today. Konoplyanka's appearance? I was sitting by the TV and I was ashamed that he was sent off for a minute and a half. You don't need to humiliate a footballer like that. It's a shame. He came on, he was out, the game was stopped, and the referee blew his whistle. Why was Konoplyanka released? He should have been given at least ten minutes to show what he can do," said Sabo.

Recall that the Ukrainian national team lost to England without a chance at the start of the Euro 2024 qualifiers. The acting coach of the Blue and Yellows Ruslan Rotan revealed the team's plan for the game.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the fans of the national teams of Ukraine and England fantastically performed the national anthem of our country at Wembley during the match on March 26.
