Five remedies to help get rid of mould
Mould and fungus are natural by-products of a humid environment. And removing them usually requires aggressive chemicals that will hit your wallet.
Treehugger has found out what products can help get rid of the scourge in the house. The first remedy is vinegar. It must be diluted with water to get rid of the smell. But the best way to kill mould is to spray it from a bottle onto the problem surface. Leave the treated area for several hours, and then clean the mould with a brush. You can add a couple of drops of essential oil to prevent the smell from bothering you. Studies show that vinegar can kill 82% of mould, as well as viruses and bacteria.
A tea tree solution can also help with stain removal. It is not so cheap, but just two teaspoons of the product mixed in equal proportions with water will be enough to get rid of mould. Spread the solution on the problem area and do not wipe it off. The smell of this product will disappear in a few days.
The third remedy is citrus seed extract and water. They are odourless and you need to dilute 20 drops of the substance in 2 glasses of water, mix it in a spray bottle and apply it to the mould spores. There is no need to wash it off afterwards.
Hydrogen peroxide is also a good helper in removing dampness by-products. To do this, spray a three per cent solution on the problem surface and leave it for 10 minutes. After that, wipe everything with a damp cloth to remove any mould residue.
The fifth remedy is baking soda. It can be used with vinegar and water or simply alone to effectively get rid of moisture by-products. To create a solution, dissolve the baking soda in water and spray it on the surface. After that, leave it on for a while, and finally wipe it off with a damp cloth. It is worth noting that there is no odour when using baking soda.
