Zelenska in white, and the wives of the leaders of Serbia and Armenia in black: analyzing the images at the Third Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen

On Wednesday, September 6, the third Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen took place, which was organized in Kyiv by the wife of the President of Ukraine Olena Zelenska. This year's event was dedicated to psychological health and was also unique in that it was attended for the first time by the First Ladies of Serbia and Armenia, countries that express some support for Russia through their policies.
Tamara Vucic, the First Lady of Serbia, and Anna Hakobyan, the wife of the Prime Minister of Armenia, chose similar looks. They appeared at the Summit in black outfits and pearls. Other guests chose brighter and lighter colors. OBOZREVATEL decided to analyze how the choice of Tamara Vucic and Anna Hakobyan is interpreted within the framework of diplomatic etiquette (to see the photo, scroll to the end of the page).
Although the First Ladies and Gentlemen Summit was humanitarian in nature, each of the guests represented their country and its contribution to supporting Ukrainians in the war with Russia. The event was solemn, and the guests' outfits were most likely chosen by stylists.
Thus, the First Lady of Ukraine came in a discreet double suit with a knee-length skirt and a white jacket. It epitomizes the purity of intentions, goodness and light with which Ukrainians are associated in the world. Olena Zelenska completed the look with a minimalist brooch-map of Ukraine with all the temporarily occupied territories, which hints at the intentions of Ukrainians to defend their land.
In contrast to the bright image of the Ukrainian First Lady, guests from Serbia and Armenia chose dark shades.
Tamara Vucic came in a long dress with a tight-fitting style, and her dark hair was loose, which further weighed down the silhouette. In addition, she added dark makeup - red lips and brown shadows. The image was brightened up by the pearls that made up the First Lady's hoop.
Anna Hakobyan, who is also brunette, came to the Summit wearing a black suit and the same color clutch. The only light detail was the long pearl beads around her neck.
It should be noted that black is an unpopular color among diplomats, as its meaning is interpreted very contradictorily. In many cultures, it is the color of grief, mourning, which is associated with something bad. Especially it is not recommended to choose it for summer events that take place in the morning or afternoon. In hot weather, it is simply impractical.
Of course, in an ordinary image, black is called the color of elegance, classics and a good choice, making the figure slimmer. However, diplomatic etiquette is a bit stricter. Especially when it comes to women.
Psychologists say that for people whose closet is dominated by black, important status and prestige. They are free-spirited, conservative and stubborn. Without bright or light accents, such a choice can seem strict and aggressive.
By the way, other guests made a choice in favor of pastel colors - beige, blue, pink, violet, etc. The men wore dark suits but light-colored shirts, as required by etiquette.
Earlier OBOZREVATEL wrote how the third Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen was held. The guest at the event was Oscar-winning French director Michel Azanavicius, and the host was British comedian Stephen Fry.
