Timothy Snyder spoke fluent Ukrainian and made a special gift to Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a personal meeting

A well-known historian and ambassador of the UNITED24 fundraising platform, Timothy Snyder came to Ukraine and impressed the public with his free possession of a nightingale in Lviv. A few days later, the Yale University professor met with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv, where he presented the head of state with a special gift.

This was reported on the official website of the Office of the President of Ukraine. For his part, the historian noted that it was important for him to contribute to the struggle of our country's citizens for freedom.

Timothy Snyder initiated the establishment of the Institute for Documentation and Engagement (INDEX) in Lviv. He came to the grand opening of the institution, where he delivered a lecture on the importance of preserving the experience of war on the territory of our country in Ukrainian: "We need to document it because tomorrow or the day after tomorrow it will not be obvious."

During his meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the historian made him a unique present. The American gave the president the first copy of his book "On Freedom." The book was based on a series of conversations with the head of state.

In a personal conversation, the President of Ukraine thanked the Yale professor for his help in raising funds for the Safe Earth and Safe Skies programs, which raised $3.8 million.

"Thank you for your work on the UNITED24 platform. You are our record holder – thanks to you, this is a record collection, and this is very important. It helps a lot. You have helped in various ways. You know that not all ambassadors took up the military direction, and I am very grateful to you for not being afraid of it," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

According to Timothy Snyder, the support he provides to Ukraine is very important to him as a person: "There are no opportunities in life where what is fair is as clear as it is now."
