Three times were winners: what places Ukraine took at Eurovision for 20 years

The Ukrainians made their debut at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2003. Representatives of Ukraine have tried their hand at the world show for almost 20 years, except for those years when it could not be done due to scandals inside the country, tragic events and coronavirus restrictions. During this time, our singers have won three times.

However, the Ukrainians did not always like the performances of Eurofans, so sometimes Ukraine is not even in the top-20 ranking. OBOZREVATEL decided to remember who performed at the European song contest and what success they had (to see the video, scroll to the end of the page).

The year 2003. The artist Alexander Ponomarev with the song Hasta la vista took 14th place.

2004. Already in the second year of participation, the singer Ruslana Lyzhychko, who sang "Wild Dances", brought a victory to Ukraine - 1st place.

2005. The group"Gryndzholy" came in 19th place with the song "Razom nas bahato", which became the anthem of the Orange Revolution.

2006. The Ukrainian showbiz star Tina Karol with the song Show Me Your Love was on the 7th line.

2007. Andrey Danilko as Verka Serdyuchka with his hit Dancing Lasha Tumbai was definitely remembered by the Eurofans, but he did not have enough to win. He won the well-deserved 2nd place.

2008. At one time the traitor Ukraine Ani Lorak represented her homeland at Eurovision and won 2nd place thanks to the song Shady lady.

2009. Svetlana Loboda, a former member of the band "VIA Gra", took 12th place with the song Be my Valentine!

2010. The singer Alyosha with the song Sweet people took 10th place.

2011. Singer Mika Newton won 4th place for Ukraine with the song Angel.

2012. With the track Be my Guest, vocalist Gaitana came in 15th place.

2013. The singer Zlata Ognevich with the song Gravity closed the top three of the competition.

2014. The artist Maria Yaremchuk, who was rated 6th, also showed a good result.

2015. Ukraine consciously refused to participate because of the tragic events in the state - the occupation of Crimea and Donbass.

2016. Another victory for Ukraine was brought by singer Jamala, who sensuously performed the song 1944.

2017. The band O.Torvald, which performed the song Time, took 24th place and to this day it is the worst result of Ukraine.

2018. Melovin performed with the track Under the Ladder, but it was rated only 17th.

2019. Singer MARUV is supposed to go to the contest, but it turned out that she sees nothing wrong with performing in Russia after the criminal actions of the terrorist country, so she was denied participation. In 2019, Ukraine did not perform at the Eurovision Song Contest.

2020. The contest did not take place because of the coronavirus pandemic, but the Ukrainians decided on their representative - it was to be the band Go_A with the song "Nightingale".

The year 2021. Go_A represented Ukraine at the show and won the 5th place with the song SHUM.

2022. The third victory for Ukraine was won by the members of the Kalush Orchestra with the song "Stefania".
