He ended his speech with the phrase, "Merci pour notre liberté, et merci pour votre service" (French for "Thank you for our freedom and thank you for your service").

According to the insiders, the king was delighted that his son, the future ruler, had represented the UK with so much dignity and bravery in front of the world's major political faces. The country also appreciated that he did this while his wife, Kate Middleton, and his father were undergoing cancer treatment.
