Sold for 10 times more: the fate of the scandalous watch that caused Schwarzenegger to be detained at the airport has been revealed
The legendary Terminator actor Arnold Schwarzenegger managed to sell his precious Audemars Pigue watch, which caused him to be detained at Munich airport. During a climate charity auction and dinner at the Stanglwirt Hotel in Kitzbühel, Austria, the actor earned 270 thousand euros for the jewelry, which is more than 10 times more expensive than the initial price he declared at customs.
Thestarting price was 50 thousand euros, puls24 reports. During the detention, the actor estimated the watch at only 20 thousand euros (800 thousand hryvnias), but it seems that this scandalous event raised the value of the jewelry. The watch was Schwarzenegger's private property, especially since it was specially made to order for the actor. It is special because the back depicts Schwarzenegger in the iconic pose with a naked torso and the inscription "Arnold Classic," writes Bild.
The proceeds will be used for the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative, which is organized annually by the Austrian World Summit in May in Vienna, Austria, to support various global climate projects.
The watch was also accompanied by a portrait of Arnold Schwarzenegger by artist Christoph Palaschke. In total, the auction raised €1.31 million. The proceeds will be spent on climate change projects.
