Skipped classes and walked with wet hair: how a school bully Volodymyr Zelenskyy became a hero for the whole world

Volodymyr Zelenskyy turned 46 years old

Today, on January 25, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of an independent state and an inspiration to the world, celebrates his 46th birthday. During his life, the native of Kryvyi Rih has created the popular show Kvartal 95, made many humorous film projects, become a leader of Ukrainians, and bravely withstood the eternal enemy of Ukraine, the Russian Federation.

Like many prominent figures, he began to gain authority in his childhood, developing such qualities as sociability, courage, sense of humor, creativity, and other talents. OBOZ.UA decided to recall what kind of child Volodymyr Zelenskyy was.

First nickname, skipped classes, and a tendency to fight

The head of state was an activist in his school days. He played the piano, developed acting skills, played sports, and did not neglect his studies, but at the same time, he was considered a kind of troublemaker.

"I was very active, I had to be on time everywhere and learn everything. Studying piano at a music school, I was often known as a bully and even a bully. As a child, you usually prove your rightness with your fists, not through negotiations and the power of persuasion," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview.

Despite his intelligent background, the young resident of Kryvyi Rih was not principled in his studies. His school life included bad grades - he knew nothing about chemistry – and missed classes when he went to sports.

In his childhood, Volodymyr Zelenskyy was given the not-so-creative nickname "Zelenyi". Later, he was simply called "Vovan," but this happened during the Ukrainian's stage career.

Fashionable looks, wet hair, and female attention

According to the co-founder of Kvartal 95, at school, he adhered to a certain style, which he and his friends were inspired by The Beatles.

"We could be seen from afar: white shirts, polka dot ties, 'ironed' pants, slightly flared, suspenders, a checked jacket, and a mandatory attribute – a hairstyle! Long hair in a bob, combed back with an incredible amount of gel," Volodymyr Zelenskyy recalled.

Few people know, but the president's hair has been slightly curly since birth, which did not fit into the style of a schoolboy. To somehow deal with this, he combed the strands with water, so he often walked around with a wet head.

His rock 'n' roll image, coupled with his charisma, drove many girls around the talented Ukrainian crazy. And he only fueled the attention to himself, courting several classmates at once.

"At school, I was a very romantic person. I could like several classmates at the same time. To be honest, I was never deprived of women's attention, so I had a reputation as a kind of "macho" guy. Until I met Olena, my future wife," the current president of Ukraine said.

In the end, almost every one of his childhood hobbies came in handy for the leader of the Ukrainians.

For example, his acting skills brought him nationwide fame, which helped him become president. The firmness of character that the Kryvyi Rih resident forged through showdowns and fights can be seen in his willingness to personally enter the ring with anyone who threatens Ukraine.

The whole world had the opportunity to observe the president's dedication to his style during his numerous business trips, where Volodymyr Zelenskyy abandoned suits in favor of military gear to show that the war was on.

Sport has also played a role in the development of the Ukrainian leader's personality. He worked out in the gym before the full-scale war, causing admiration from the world and Ukrainians, and in recent years, training has become a way for Volodymyr Zelenskyy to rest and relax.
