Today, on November 8, Lady Louise Windsor, the youngest granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II, daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh Edward and Sophie, celebrates her 21st birthday. She is called the royal family's "secret weapon" due to her natural poise combined with her down-to-earth personality and resemblance to her late grandmother, but out of the public eye, Louise Windsor is just an ordinary student like everyone else.

The birthday girl, who was once dubbed the "English rose in bloom," was congratulated by King Charles and Queen Camilla. The couple posted a photo of the girl in a carriage at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. Louise looked joyful, shining in front of the camera in a beige hat and matching jacket. Prince William and Kate Middleton also joined the greetings and wished Lady Winsdor a happy birthday.

Coming into the world

Louise Winsdor was born prematurely on November 8, 2003. Her mother, at the time still Countess Sophie, had to be hospitalized a month before the birth due to severe bleeding caused by a ruptured placenta. At the time when the royal family welcomed the baby, she was 8th in line to the throne. Currently, Louise is on the 16th step to the crown.

The girl was born with esotropia, a form of strabismus, but underwent surgery at the age of 3. The surgery was unsuccessful, and in 2013, when she was 10 years old,  Louise underwent treatment that guaranteed the desired effect.

School and student years

The young lady attended St. George's School in Windsor Castle. In the 9th grade,  Louise Winsdor moved to St. Mary's School in Ascot. There, the girl mastered English, history, politics, and drama as her main subjects.

In the fall of 2022, the granddaughter of Elizabeth II became a student at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, where William and Kate once studied. Louise chose to major in English. She is currently in her 3rd year of study and takes an active part in the life of the university. In the photos taken during a fundraiser for the university drama club earlier this year, the heiress to the throne is having fun with friends, showing off her moves on the dance floor, and taking a selfie with her rumored boyfriend, the Daily Mail reports.

What is known about Lady Louise's relationship

The girl's chosen one, with whom she has been with for about two years, is Felix da Silva-Clamp, the son of a lawyer. The young man, dubbed the "secret boyfriend," reportedly even traveled to the Sandringham estate in Norfolk to see Louise at her horse-drawn carriage competition in June, where she won a silver medal.

The couple could even go the way of William and Kate, who also met when they were students at St. Andrews, and Felix already seems to be at ease with the family. He seems to get along well with Lady Louise's parents, and during a conversation with the Duchess of Edinburgh, he beamed with pleasure.

Working in a garden center

In 2022, Louise spent a summer working at a garden center before going to university. She is said to have helped at the cash register, greeted customers, pruned and potted plants – for £6.63 an hour (about 350 hryvnias). One customer said: "She is a really humble and nice young woman, polite and attentive to customers. She seems to love her job. I would never have thought that the Queen's granddaughter could work behind the counter." Another added: "The staff seemed to adore her. It's not every day you get to buy begonias from royalty."

Why the birthday girl does not have the title of princess

Despite the fact that after her birth, Louise automatically became a princess thanks to a 1917 patent deed, she currently has no title. Previously, the document stated that all children of the sons of the Queen or the King receive the titles of "Prince or Princess" and "Royal Highness." However, in 1999, shortly after Sophie and Edward's marriage, Elizabeth II announced that their heirs would become children of the Earl.

When the girl turned 18, she had every right to keep the royal title. However, Louise refused to use it because she wanted to avoid the public life that the crown obliges her to.
