Kondratiuk on Kvartal 95: only an idiot can make jokes about ebonite sticks and "prostitute Ukraine", traveling to occupied Crimea is stupid in general
Ukrainian TV presenter and producer Ihor Kondratiuk considers Kvartal 95 to be a model of lowbrow humor. He does not understand why people continue to watch the show. He also recalled both the old failures of the Kvartal staff and the recent scandal with the "Siskadovska" (pun of the words "with" and "Scadovsk") displaced person.
He spoke about this on the air of "Hovrut Velykyi Lviv" (Great Lviv speaks). The showman admitted that he hasn't watched Kvartal since 2005. The main reason for this is that the star does not understand the humor of the show. In addition, the program was broadcast exclusively in Russian for many years.
Kondratiuk says that for him Kvartal is a terra incognita. The guest believes that now the show is more like "performances of the regional student theater of variety miniatures." "Their lowbrow nature is that they have no subtle humor. And they have no understanding of things that are anti-social, anti-Ukrainian," the showman said. "Only an idiot can think of a joke about ebonite sticks."
This is a cynical joke that was made in the New Year's Eve episode in 2013. The actors in the skit referred to the events of the Revolution of Dignity when people were brutally beaten by the Berkut special forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. "If the Berkut officers are given ebonite sticks and the protesters are dressed in woolen clothes, will we be able to generate electricity?" Koshovyi's character asks Yanukovych, played by Pikalov.
"This is despite the fact that the Heavenly Hundred died on the Maidan because of the murders that Yanukovych's government allowed. How can you joke about that?" Kondratiuk continued. He also recalled the black humor of the Kvartal members about the former head of the National Bank: on stage, the actors sang a reworked song "Horila sosna, palala" (The pine tree burned, burned) about Hontareva's house that burned down.
"They were laughing that Ukraine was walking around the world, comparing it to a prostitute, although the president said that if this joke seemed rude to someone, then sorry. Didn't he seem rude to them?" the TV host said.
He also commented on the new scandal, emphasizing that authors who joke about Ukrainians under occupation "have no brains." He also paid attention to the main character, Iryna Hatun, who played an IDP from Skadovsk.
As it turned out later, the actress traveled to Crimea after its annexation by Russia in 2014. "I don't understand these people, I don't understand how a person could go on vacation to Crimea after the year 14. This is total ignorance," the celebrity said.
Earlier, OBOZ.UA told you how Kondratiuk compared Kvartal 95 to Arestovych and sent Velykyi to the occupied Skadovsk: "And everyone will laugh that you are bald."
