From the red carpet to the farm: 5 stars who traded luxury for agriculture
The hectic life in Hollywood tires stars. This includes obsessive attention (from the public, photographers and journalists), a constant desire for recognition, and the pursuit of the "ideal version of oneself"... As a result, many celebrities decide to make radical changes: they settle in modest houses, then grow gardens and breed farm animals. In this way, they find happiness in basic values: inner freedom, nature, and harmony with themselves and the world.
So, which stars prefer farming to living in a villa? Read in the article of OBOZ.UA.
1. Calvin Fletcher
English actor, race car driver and TV presenter Calvin Fletcher, star of the soap opera Emmerdale, and his wife Elizabeth Marsland bought an authentic cottage built in the 18th century in the Peak District (UK) with a farm in 2021. Now they run an Instagram account where they share their daily adventures: caring for animals (chickens, horses, alpacas, etc.), growing crops, and home improvement. For example, in one of the videos, the family grazes sheep and prepares hay for the animals. "A typical day on the farm. Every day there is something to do, every day there are challenges and every day there is a glimpse of beauty. Best job in the world," Fletcher emotionally captioned the post.
2. Nicole Kidman
In 2008, Australian actress Nicole Kidman and her husband, country singer Keith Urban, bought a house with a 45-hectare farm in Bunya Hill (Australia). Here, the couple raises alpacas, cows and lambs, and also takes care of fruit trees. "When I'm on the farm, I write screenplays, read books, and work in the garden. It restores my strength better than any resort," the celebrity said in an interview with Vogue Australia. She added that she enjoys the "simplicity, air, and tranquility" at home.
3. Chris Pratt
In 2017, the American actor Chris Pratt and his wife Katherine Eunice Schwarzenegger bought a house with a farm on San Juan Island in Washington. Since then, they have been running a farm that specializes in growing berries and vegetables, as well as breeding bees and livestock (sheep, chickens, several cows, and a Texas longhorn (bull)). On his Instagram page, Pratt often shares the daily routine of farm life, including grazing animals, working on a tractor, or cleaning the barn. Sometimes he also finds time to relax. For example, he watches a lamb using its hooves to massage a sheep.
4. Amanda Seyfried
At the age of 22, American actress and singer Amanda Seyfried began looking for a place to live outside of Hollywood (she is now 39). So, in upstate New York, near the Catskill Mountains, she came across a house that she liked. She bought it. According to the star, it was missing interior walls and some pieces of flooring. But she was interested in the spectacular windows, through which bright light penetrated into every room... Now this is the house where Seyfried lives with her husband and two children. Together they raise chickens, goats, donkeys, and horses. "There is no pressure on the farm (unlike public events - Ed.). I am lucky! I always knew I wanted a farm. I didn't know if I was going to have hundreds of animals, but I recently inherited horses and bought goats... I'd also like to buy an alpaca," the movie star said in an interview with Stylist.
5. Julia Roberts
American film actress Julia Roberts lives with her husband and children on a farm in Santa Fe, New Mexico (USA). They raise chickens (exclusively for eggs) and grow vegetables and fruits. In 2014, in an interview with InStyle, the star gave the reason why she decided to change her lifestyle: "We do it because we live in a world where fresh and organic food is a financial luxury. So, if we have this luxury, I will use it for my family."
