On Wednesday, 9 August, 19-year-old Svitlana Semyokina and 21-year-old Khrystyna Spitsyna were singing Ukrainian songs in the streets of their native Zaporizhzhia to raise money to help the Ukrainian armed forces. They were both killed in a Russian missile attack. The last song the girls performed an hour before the next Russian terrorist attack was a cheerful hit by popular Ukrainian musician Mykhailo Khoma, better known by his stage name Dzidzio, "Me and Sara". The artist reacted to the tragic death of the young vocalists.
On his personal Instagram page, the singer posted a video of Svitlana and Khrystyna singing his track, which was the last track the young Ukrainians ever heard. Dzidzio commented on the footage with heartbreaking words that brought many Internet users to tears.
"My God, yesterday they were singing and playing together for people, and today none of them are here. The Russian missile mercilessly took their voice, their lives and, at the same time, a part of the soul of each of us. The girls' names were Svitlana Semyomkina and Khrystyna Spitsyna. 19 years old and 21 years old. My soul is torn with pain," the musician wrote.
It is known that an hour before the attack, the girls were performing on the streets of Zaporizhzhia. Their last performance of Jijo's hit song "Me and Sarah" was filmed by a volunteer. The young talented Ukrainians were singing to raise money for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The girls' duo was called Similar girls, and they were members of the cover band Gems. According to reports on social media, Svitlana and Kristina are the daughters of soldiers defending Ukraine at the frontline. All the details are in our article.
As a reminder, the day before, on 9 August, Russia attacked Zaporizhzhia: a residential area was hit, killing people. A church and retail outlets in the Shevchenkivskyi district were also destroyed. The blast wave smashed windows in high-rise buildings and damaged a playground.
As OBOZREVATEL wrote, earlier Dzidzio told about a personal tragedy when he almost lost a close friend due to a Russian missile strike on the Yavoriv training ground in Lviv region. The artist was told that people with injuries like his fellow soldier Roman Kulyk's rarely survive.
