The Ukrainian writer, co-author of the Taras Shevchenko historical channel, public figure, and patriot Dmytro Kapranov, the twin brother of Vitaliy Kapranov, was sent off to his last journey with loud applause. Friends, relatives, and concerned Kyiv residents said goodbye to the legend of Ukraine in St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral.

OBOZ.UA correspondents witnessed hundreds of Ukrainians applauding as the coffin was transferred from the church to a car. From there it was taken to the crematorium. The urn with the ashes will be buried at the Baikove cemetery.

The audience surrounded the car and shared this moment with Dmytro Kapranov's family. The applause did not stop until the car drove away, and Ukrainians could not hold back their tears.

The funeral lasted about three hours. During this time, dozens of well-known Ukrainians mourning the loss came to the coffin, the relatives of the deceased and journalists.

Among them were singers Oleh Skrypka and Kolya Serha, artist Yuriy Zhuravel, showman Anton Lirnyk, writer Andriy Kokotoha, former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, writer Vasyl Shklyar, actor Yevhen Nyshchuk, military men who honor the brothers for their service in the Azov regiment in 2022, and others.

According to Vitaliy Kapranov, the body of his twin will be cremated. Only the writer's closest relatives went to the Baikove cemetery.

The cause of death was not officially reported. However, our editorial office learned that Dmitry Kapranov had heart problems, and his death came as a surprise to his family and friends. Doctors assured him that "everything was fine."

Colleagues and friends of the famous writer shared their personal memories. Maria Matios recalled how she accidentally met the writers at the beginning of the Russian invasion at one of the checkpoints.
