"A surprise awaits you": Dmytro Shurov confirms Ukraine's participation in Eurovision 2024 and talks about innovations in the national selection
Suspilne.Media has confirmed Ukraine's participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. The final of the 68th international song contest is scheduled for 11 May next year in Sweden. The national selection in Ukraine will start soon.
For the second year in a row, the producer of the national selection will be the famous Ukrainian musician Dmytro Shurov (Pianoboy). He revealed to Suspilne that this year's viewers and participants will experience some innovations.
Thus, Shurov said that applications for participation in the national selection will start this week.
"I'm appealing to everyone now: tune in, we have to create and choose the next song that will make the country proud, a song that will win the hearts of the whole of Europe and light up a new star from Ukraine. This year, there is a surprise for you - you will be able to choose one of the finalists yourself. There are many interesting things ahead," the producer shared.
The head of the Ukrainian delegation to the contest, Oksana Skibinska, also stressed that the national selection for Eurovision will introduce innovations that will allow Ukrainians to "get even more involved in making key decisions in the selection process".
It is worth noting that Eurovision 2024 will take place in Malmö, Sweden, as this year's winner was Sweden and its representative Loreen.
It is known that this will be the third time the contest will be held in Malmö. Previously, musicians and Euro fans gathered there in 1992 and 2013. The last time, by the way, was also after Loreen's victory. The semi-finals are scheduled for 7 and 9 May 2024, and the grand final is on 11 May.
