We must prevent Putin from being rewarded for the invasion of Ukraine: US Congressman Fitzpatrick made a loud statement

U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick stands up for Ukraine and Zelenskyy

U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick said that many American politicians from both parties oppose any decisions that could benefit Vladimir Putin. They are ready to do everything possible to ensure that he does not receive any benefit for his aggression, war crimes, and violations of Ukrainians' rights.

Fitzpatrick wrote about this on the social network X, adding that no peace agreements can be imposed on Ukraine that will not guarantee its security and sovereignty. He emphasized that the people of Ukraine elected Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a free and fair presidential election (73% of the vote), which has never happened in Russia before.

"President Zelenskyy and all negotiators should know this: there are a significant number of members of the United States Congress from both parties and in both houses who are ready, willing, and able to do everything possible to prevent communist dictator Vladimir Putin from rewarding his illegal invasion, rape, kidnapping, torture and murder of the Ukrainian people, including so many women and children," the congressman emphasized.

According to him, U.S. congressmen will use every lever and vote they have, regardless of personal or political consequences.

"This issue is so time-sensitive and so existential. It defines a legacy," the politician said.

Fitzpatrick emphasized that peace must be not only immediate but also just. It should include Russia's responsibility for its crimes, respect for the victims of the war, and an equal distribution of reconstruction costs among European states.

In his opinion, any other approach will only encourage future invasions and cause new tragedies. Fitzpatrick emphasized that the United States must maintain peace through strength, as this is the only way to justice and security.

"This is about peace through strength. It is about patriotic common sense. And patriotic common sense is what America should always stand for," he added.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, on February 19, Trump sharply criticized the Ukrainian president on Truth Social. He said that Zelenskyy had "lured" $350 billion from the United States for a war "that cannot be won" and "played Joe Biden like a fiddle." The US president also called Zelenskyy a "dictator without elections."

After that, many world leaders expressed support for Zelenskyy, including several American officials and congressmen.

The United Nations disagreed with Trump's statement. They consider Zelenskyy to be a legitimate head of state who is ruling the country after legitimate elections.
