"We are getting involved in an eternal war": Trump's future adviser Waltz spoke out about plans for military aid to Ukraine
Congressman Michael Waltz, whom future US President Donald Trump plans to appoint as his National Security Advisor, believes that providing multibillion-dollar military aid to Ukraine is a "bad strategy" to end the war. At the same time, he noted that Trump's team will strive to ensure that the war ends forever, not just suspended.
In an interview with CBS News, the official noted that a "blank check" cannot be a strategy, but rather leads to an endless war. By "blank check" Americans usually mean unlimited funding.
"President Trump just said in his interview with Time magazine that a blank check is not a strategy. It's a kind of perpetual war that we seem to be getting into," he said.
Waltz noted that the team Trump is assembling is planning to focus not only on the format of a lasting peace but also on making sure that it corresponds to the interests of the United States.
"What does success look like that is in our interest? How do we end the war? Who is at the negotiating table? How do we get all the parties to the table, and what is the framework for an agreement? These are the things that we are thinking about with the fantastic team that he (Trump – Ed.) is assembling," the congressman said.
At the same time, Waltz expressed hope that they would be able to "restore stability" and end the war forever, "not just suspend it."
