The US Congress has called for US troops to strike Iran in response to the attack on Israel, and is also going to hold Tehran accountable for the attack. At the same time, US President Joe Biden is convening consultations with G7 allies to formulate a response to the attacks.

Thus, the US President said that American facilities or forces in the Middle East were not affected by Iran's attack on Israel. He also added that Tel Aviv, with Washington's assistance, managed to shoot down almost all missiles and drones launched by Tehran. Biden assured Israel of US support, but in response to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he said that the Americans would not help any IDF counterattack on Iran.

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris released her first response to Iran's strike on Israel, saying that the White House's support for Israel's security is "ironclad."

"We stand with the people of Israel in defending these attacks," she said.

U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn, a Republican, called on the leadership of the state to retaliate against Tehran.

"Iran has started launching drone strikes against Israel. President Biden, we must act quickly and retaliate against Iran," she said on X.

The Hill writes that her post provides an insight into the pressure that some Republicans in Congress may be putting on the American leader amid fears of a broader war in the region.

The Republican majority leader in the House of Representatives, Congressman Steve Scalise, said that the House schedule will change for next week. According to him, the key work will be focused on considering legislation to support Israel and hold Iran accountable.

"In light of Iran's unjustified attack on Israel, next week the House of Representatives will change its previously announced legislative schedule to consider legislation that supports our ally Israel and holds Iran and its terrorist proxies accountable instead," he said.

Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen condemned Iran's attack on Israel but added that he supports Biden in his efforts to "prevent an even broader conflict that will engulf the people of the entire region."

Malta's Permanent Representative to the UN, Vanessa Fraser, said that the UN Security Council meeting will be held at 23:00 (Kyiv time) on Sunday, April 14.

After the attack on Israel on the evening of April 13, Iran's Permanent Mission to the United Nations said it was a response to the aggression of the "Zionist regime" against Iranian diplomatic missions in Damascus. Tel Aviv has promised a response to the Iranian terrorist attack. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and a number of leaders condemned Iran's massive attack on Israel, emphasizing that neither the Middle East nor the world "can afford another war."

As reported, on the night of April 13-14, Iran fired almost 200 drones and more than a hundred cruise and ballistic missiles at Israel. According to the IDF, none of the targets reached Israeli airspace. All of them were intercepted, including by allies.
