A shooting took place at the University of Prague
In the Czech capital of Prague, a shooting took place at a university on Jan Palach Square. The incident killed 10 people and injured about 25. Afterward, the shooter committed suicide.
Law enforcement officers are at the scene, and the surrounding area has been completely blocked off. This was reported on the social network X of the Czech Republic Police.
According to media reports, the shooter's name was David Kozak, and he opened fire on the fourth floor of the Philosophy Faculty building. Preliminarily, the man shot himself when dozens of law enforcement vehicles arrived at the scene.
Photos from the scene published online show that students climbed onto the roof of the building in an attempt to escape the shooter. Also, some of the people in the building barricaded themselves in the classroom and library. The server tn.cz published a photo of an armed man in dark clothes on the roof of the building.
After a while, the police announced that the shooter had been eliminated. The university building was evacuated. Thus, the total number of dead is 11, including the attacker himself.
Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Nikolenko said that (as of 18:00) there was no information about any injured Ukrainians. For citizens of our country in the Czech Republic, the embassy's hotline is open at +420 602 224 938.
