The United Kingdom, which holds the presidency of the UN Security Council in November, has announced a meeting of the Security Council to mark the 1000th day of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The meeting will be held in the afternoon of November 18.

Barbara Woodward, the Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the United Nations, made the announcement at a press conference on November 1. According to her, the meeting will be chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom, David Lammy.

Woodward presented the Security Council's schedule for November. According to her, the priorities will include the consequences and risks of war in the Middle East, Russia's aggression against Ukraine, and the conflict in Sudan.

The Permanent Representative emphasized that the UK intends to use its presidency of the UN Security Council to expose Russian disinformation and raise the issue of Russian war crimes.

"London will continue to support Ukraine's fight for its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the principles of the UN Charter. This support remains unwavering," Woodward emphasized.

Barbara Woodward also stated that the international community is determined to support Ukraine. It "should not and will not be complacent, because Putin would not stop with Ukraine".

She added that Russia is involved in most of the global conflicts in the world.

"President Putin's hand is rarely far from the place where death and chaos reign," Woodward emphasized.

The British Permanent Representative noted that Russia does not even deny the fact that it is making deals with Pyongyang. Moscow, she said, uses North Korean troops as cannon fodder. It also buys drones from Iran and finances terrorism in the Middle East, which increases the threat to peace in all countries.

Woodward also said that the Russian delegation had blocked the approval of the UN Security Council's work schedule for the month, as it includes consideration of the Ukrainian issue.

However, this will not prevent the UN from holding a meeting outside the schedule at the request of the member states of the organization, Barbara Woodward emphasized.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, at a meeting of the UN Security Council on October 31, Deputy US Ambassador to the UN Robert Wood said that there is evidence that "right now" there are 8,000 North Korean troops in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. He asked Russian representative Vasily Nebenzya whether Moscow would continue to deny the presence of the DPRK military near the border with Ukraine. The Russian did not answer this question.
