Ukraine cannot lose the war: Stubb names Europe's main task

Olha GanyukovaWorld

President of Finland Alexander Stubb said that Europe must develop a clear plan to end Russia's war in Ukraine. He emphasized that Ukraine cannot lose the war, and this is the main task for European leaders.

This was reported by YLE. On February 19, Stubb joined a video call during an emergency meeting of European leaders on security issues organized by French President Emmanuel Macron. The main topic was support for Ukraine amid contradictory statements from the United States.

According to Stubb, Europe must unite and convince the United States of the need for further support for Ukraine, as it cannot lose the war. He emphasized that Kyiv needs all possible resources, while Russia should be put under more pressure with sanctions and political measures.

In addition, Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen emphasized that Donald Trump's recent statements about Ukraine are unprecedented. The former US president has actually accused Ukraine of starting the war, although it was Russia that carried out a full-scale invasion almost three years ago.

To recap: On February 19, Trump sharply criticized the Ukrainian president on his social network Truth Social. He allegedly "lured" $350 billion from the United States for a war "that cannot be won" and "played Joe Biden "like a fiddle."

The US president also called Zelenskyy a "dictator without elections."

After that, many world leaders, including several American officials and congressmen, expressed their support for Zelenskyy.

As OBOZ.UA wrote, according to The New York Times, Russia was able to interest Donald Trump in business prospects on its territory and the possibility of obtaining the status of a "peacemaker." At the same time, Europe's attempts to interest the White House in covering the US costs of supplying weapons to Ukraine have not had the same effect.
