Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is losing the advantage she had over Republican Donald Trump at the beginning of her campaign. Now the US vice president has a 51% chance of winning, while at the end of September this figure was 56%.

This is stated in the election forecast from The Hill and Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ). As of Friday, October 11, Trump was leading in five of the seven swing states, while Harris was leading in only two. And earlier this month, Harris had a four-to-three advantage over Trump.

"Former President Trump's chances of winning a second term are growing, and Democrats are worried," the article says.

At the same time, The Hill notes that, first, the polls may simply be wrong, and important issues - abortion for Harris, immigration for Trump - may lead to a higher turnout for either candidate than sociologists predict.

Secondly, shifts of one or two percentage points, even in the average polls, may be statistical "noise" rather than real evidence of a change in voter sentiment. And third, polls only show a picture at a certain point in time - there is still time for new events to influence American opinion.

"Nevertheless, the main trend over the past week or so has been a movement, with a small but clear advantage, toward Trump," the publication summarized.

Against this backdrop, Kamala Harris's team published the results of the vice president's medical examination. According to CNN, the White House wants to create a contrast between the 59-year-old Democratic candidate and her 78-year-old Republican rival.

The letter from Harris's doctor, Joshua Simmons, states that the vice president suffers from seasonal allergies and hives, and also has myopia. Her last checkup in April 2024, including a blood test, showed no cause for concern.

According to the letter, Harris also wears contact lenses, occasionally takes allergy medication, maintains a healthy diet, does not use tobacco, and drinks alcohol "only occasionally and in moderation."

"To summarize, Vice President Harris is in excellent health. She possesses the physical and mental stability necessary to successfully fulfill the duties of the presidency," her doctor writes.

Unlike Harris, Trump has released only limited information about his health, including a letter from his doctor, Bruce Aronwald, dated November 2023. It states that "Trump's overall health is excellent."

"His physical examinations were within normal limits and his cognitive examinations were exceptional," Aronwald's letter reads. Trump's full medical records have not yet been made public.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, in seven key US states that could determine the outcome of the presidential election, voters prefer Donald Trump to Kamala Harris in resolving the war in Ukraine and the crisis in the Middle East. Thus, 50% of voters believe that Trump will better cope with Russian aggression in Ukraine, while only 39% supported Harris.
