Trump mentions Ukraine war during National Prayer Breakfast, shifts responsibility to Biden
On Thursday, February 6, President of the United States Donald Trump took part in the annual National Prayer Breakfast and mentioned Ukraine war in his speech. The head of the White House once again accused the previous US administration, led by Joe Biden, of allowing a full-scale Russian invasion to happen.
This was reported by the Voice of America. Trump also mentioned the war in the Middle East and emphasized the need to "eradicate anti-Christian bias."
The American president noted that he is working to stop the war in Ukraine and to free Israeli hostages in Gaza.
In particular, with regard to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Trump emphasized that he is "making progress" in peace talks.
"All those millions of kids.... You know, the soldiers are just being decimated. The two countries, probably 800,000 Russians, 600-700,000 Ukrainians, young people just lying on the battlefield, dead. It's a horrible situation going on over there. We're working very hard, and I think we're making progress to stop it," he said.
Trump also said that he would not rest until all Israeli hostages taken by the Hamas terrorist group are returned home.
In the speech, the president said that his relationship with religion has changed after two failed assassination attempts last year and called on Americans to return to religion.
"And I really believe you can’t be happy without religion, without that belief. So, let’s bring religion back. Let’s bring God back into our lives." he added.
Trump also announced that he plans to create a Commission on Religious Freedom and a special group to combat "anti-Christian bias."
As reported, the US President's Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, said that he would not present a peace plan for Ukraineat the security conference in Munich next week. According to him, this should be done by US President Donald Trump.
