"The most important thing is the path to peace": During his visit to China, Kuleba pointed out the threats to the world due to Russia's aggression
Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, who arrived on an official visit to China the day before, held talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. The diplomat said that Russia's aggression hinders not only the development of our country but also good neighborly relations, including trade between China and Europe.
Therefore, it is necessary to end the war unleashed by Russia as soon as possible, restore peace and accelerate Ukraine's recovery. Kuleba spoke about the threats facing the world due to the actions of the terrorist state in his speech before the talks. The diplomat emphasized that the Russian Federation has destroyed peace and slowed down development with its aggression.
"Russian aggression is not only an obstacle to Ukraine's development. It also hinders international stability, the development of good neighborly relations, in particular the development of trade between China and Europe," the Foreign Minister emphasized.
He reminded that Ukraine has recently started negotiations on joining the European Union, a decision that is irreversible for both Ukraine and the EU.
"I propose today to discuss our bilateral relations, in particular, through the prism of Ukraine's future membership in the EU and China's relations with the European Union," Kuleba addressed Wang Yi.
The diplomat noted that the last time he met with his Chinese counterpart was in Munich, and each of their meetings is becoming more and more substantive, which is a positive trend.
"Today we will hold thorough and substantive talks on bilateral relations, the international agenda and, most importantly, the path to peace. I am convinced that a just peace in Ukraine is in China's strategic interests, and China's role as a global force for peace is important," the minister said.
According to Reuters, the talks between Kuleba and Wang Yi lasted more than three hours - longer than planned.
"It was a very deep and concrete conversation," a Ukrainian source in the delegation told the agency.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry's website noted that Beijing and Kyiv should consider and plan bilateral relations from a long-term perspective. During the meeting, Wang Yi said that the two countries should keep in touch, the ministry added.
Also, according to the report, Wang Yi again spoke about "the crisis in Ukraine, which has been going on for three years," and China "has always been firmly committed to promoting a political solution to the crisis."
