Biden proposed to allocate $482 million from the US budget for 2025 to support Ukraine

The United States intends to continue supporting Ukraine with money. The president's budget request for fiscal year 2025 provides $1.5 billion to counter the Kremlin's aggression, including $482 million for our country.

This was reported on the website of the US Department of State. These funds, along with an additional national security request, will help restore Ukraine's economy, strengthen our resilience and ability to defend ourselves against a full-scale Russian invasion.

This future U.S. assistance will also ensure progress on the reforms necessary for Ukraine's accession to the EU.

"The FY2025 request does not include resources for certain requirements that were part of the October 2023 supplemental national security request to address critical and urgent needs that cannot wait until FY2025 and are appropriately funded through the supplemental request," the statement said.

How will the $482 million allocated for Ukraine in the draft US budget be distributed?

- USD 250 million in economic and development assistance to support Ukraine's reforms, civil society, rule of law, and electoral integrity. This item also includes programs to stimulate economic growth, strengthen energy security, support EU accession, and build resilience of the Ukrainian people by restoring critical public services across the country, especially in liberated communities.

- 95 million in security sector assistance for immediate and medium-term capacity to help Ukraine win the war against Russian aggression.

- 71 million for health care programs.

- 66 million for other types of security assistance, such as support for civilian security, the rule of law, and mine action and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

"The stakes in this fight go far beyond Ukraine. If we do not stop Putin's appetite for power and control in Ukraine, it will not be limited to Ukraine, and the costs to America and our allies and partners will increase," the State Department recalled the words of US President Joe Biden.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, the European Union wants to transfer about 3 billion euros to Ukraine at the expense of profits received from the frozen assets of the aggressor country Russia. The plans are to transfer these funds to Kyiv no later than the summer of 2024.
