In the Iranian province of East Azerbaijan, the crash site of the helicopter on board which President Ibrahim Raisi crashed on May 19 has been discovered. The board completely burned down after a hard landing in the mountains, and all passengers were killed.

Dozens of rescue teams were sent to the site, CNN reported, citing Iranian state news agency IRNA. The network published the first photos and videos from the crash site.

The Bell 212 was found 30 kilometers from the village of Tavil. Preliminarily, it lost control due to an electronics failure and thick fog, crashed into a mountain, collapsed and burned.

On Monday morning, footage showed a rescue team huddled around a GPS drone while others searched the black mountainside on foot in the middle of the crash. The area was still shrouded in fog.

"The helicopter of the Iranian president completely burned down during a hard landing, all passengers are likely dead. Search operations continue," Reuters quoted an Iranian official as saying.

According to the head of the Iranian Red Crescent, Pir-Hossein Kolivand, there are at least 73 rescue teams in the disaster area. He noted that "the situation is not very good," but did not provide any details.

Local media reported: "there is a possibility that all the passengers of the helicopter were killed". Later, they published confirmation of their deaths. In particular, in addition to Raisi, the victims of the crash were Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, Governor of the Province of East Azerbaijan Malek Rahmati, representative of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in the same province Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Al-Khashim and several other unnamed individuals.

The helicopter carrying the Iranian leader crashed in eastern Azerbaijan on Sunday, May 19. The convoy had three planes, two of which were carrying ministers and officials, and they successfully arrived at their destination.

Imam of the Friday Prayer of Tabriz, Seyyed Mohammad Ali Al-Hashem, and Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian also flew with Raisi.
