Prime Minister Robert Fico has regained consciousness after suffering multiple gunshot wounds on May 15. However, the politician's condition remains serious.

The prime minister's condition does not yet allow him to be transferred to another hospital. This was reported by HNonline.

Deputy Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Kaliniak and Health Minister Zuzana Dolinkova praised the medical care provided to the Prime Minister. Kaliniak noted that doctors are approaching a positive prognosis for Fico's condition.

"What is very important is that the condition allows for recovery. The prime minister is conscious, but, of course, with all the nuances present in such a serious injury," Kaliniak said.

He added that the Prime Minister's condition is still considered serious due to the possible reaction of the body to gunshot wounds and possible complications that may appear on the fourth and fifth days.

The Deputy Prime Minister also confirmed that the government will continue to work with the program. In particular, Kaliniak will hold at least two meetings next week, including on European funds.

Kaliniak has not yet clarified whether Fico's Party for Social Democracy will participate in the meeting of parliamentary political parties at the Presidential Palace. He wants to consult with President Zuzana Chaputova first. The deputy prime minister emphasized that Slovakia currently needs peace and to calm down the disagreements that have flared up. At the same time, he confirmed that the head of state is regularly informed about the prime minister's condition.
