German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, 66, has admitted that he has several old-fashioned habits. In particular, the politician still watches tube TV and carries documents in a 40-year-old briefcase.

This was reported by Bild. The topic arose recently at an SPD election rally in Dresden during a discussion of the transition to electric cars.

A trade unionist from Volkswagen Zwickau expressed concern about the government's gradual withdrawal of subsidies for electric vehicles and called for a "price brake" to be introduced, as all this threatens to reduce jobs. Instead, Scholz said that the reason for the low number of such cars is not only the government's policy.

The politician explained that the government has just obliged gas stations to build fast charging stations. And then he admitted that he has an old tube TV at home that still works perfectly.

He explained that every time he looks at a brochure in a store selling the latest TVs, he thinks to himself that in a year these models will be outdated anyway - and doesn't buy them. Scholz believes it's the same with cars. They are undergoing many changes, and soon today's models will become obsolete. But the politician is convinced that this should not scare people away.

"So, the Chancellor is promoting electric cars, using an argument that he doesn't use for his tube TV. Will he now also buy a smart TV?" the German media wondered.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

- As hard as changing old things is, Scholz is given important decisions in international politics that require new and unconventional ideas. He was cautious about President Volodymyr Zelensky's call for Western allies to shoot down Russian missiles and drones over Ukrainian territory. Scholz rejected this proposal, emphasizing that such steps are not being considered.

- Also, former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said that Germany is too hesitant to provide military support to Ukraine. According to him, the German government has been slow to make decisions when it comes to important decisions on arms supplies.
