Poland has deployed a new tank battalion on its eastern border, equipped with modern K2 tanks previously purchased from South Korea. It appeared in the village of Czartajew on the border with Belarus.

This was reported on November 12 on the official website of the Polish government. The ceremony was attended by the head of the Ministry of National Defense, Mariusz Blaszczak.

According to the report, the armored brigade will be part of the 1st Infantry Division of the Legions and will be designed to conduct combat operations as part of the division or independently, in various terrain and climatic conditions.

"The creation of this brigade will significantly enhance the combat capabilities of the Armed Forces in a key defense area. This is an area of particular importance for the defense system and territorial unity of northeastern Poland," the press service said.

"Another unit of the Polish Army is deployed in the east of our country. Here, in the Siemiatycze Poviat, there will be, and already is, a tank battalion that will be part of the 1st Infantry Division of the Legions, whose task is to deter the aggressor and ensure security," the minister said.

At the first stage of the unit's creation, more than a hundred soldiers will be deployed in Czartajew, and eventually several hundred will be deployed on a permanent basis. The unit will be equipped with modern equipment purchased for Poland in recent years - K2 tanks, Rak mortars, and Poprad systems.

He noted that over the past 10 years, Poland has been creating new military units on the eastern border, calling for volunteers to join the army and equipping units with modern weapons.

"We are aware of the threats and are well aware that the Kremlin rulers started the war because they want to restore the Russian Empire. It has always been a threat to neighboring nations. Therefore, to prevent an attack, we are strengthening the army," Blaszczak said.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, on the day of the state's independence, Polish President Andrzej Duda reminded that many years ago the Polish people lost their independence "because of cowardice, betrayal, stupidity, and viciousness." He urged to support Ukraine and be ready "even to fight Russia".
