Planned to hand over a third of the country to occupation: plans of the former government made public in Poland

There is a scandal in Poland due to the plans of the ex government for defense against Russia

The former Polish government planned to occupy a third of the country in the event of a Russian attack. This plan was approved in 2011.

This was reported by the ruling "Law and Justice" party on Twitter. On the eve of the election, the political force released a video showing a secret document from the Ministry of Defense in 2011, which contained a plan for Poland's defense in the event of a Russian invasion (to watch the video, scroll to the bottom of the page).

The plan was for the Polish army to leave the borders and retreat beyond the Vistula River, meaning that it would effectively surrender 30% of Poland's territory. Russian troops were supposed to hold the Vistula River for 10-14 days until NATO reinforcements arrived.

Thus, in the video, the current Minister of Defense Mariusz Błaszczak claims that back in 2011, the then head of the Ministry of Defense Bogdan Klich approved a plan to defend against a possible Russian invasion. It stipulated that the country's independent defense would last no more than two weeks, and after seven days the enemy would reach the right bank of the Vistula River, which flows through the center of the country, including Warsaw.

The video shows photos of fragments of this plan for the defense of the country. Their authenticity was confirmed by former Polish General Mirosław Różanski.

This video largely discredits the main political rivals of the ruling "Law and Justice" party from Donald Tusk's Civic Platform (Prime Minister of Poland 2007-2014) and undermines the credibility of this political party, whose members approved the defense plan.

"The Civic Platform is angry that we have revealed their plans to hand over half of Poland to the enemy... You were preparing a repeat of Bucha and Irpin and wanted to turn Warsaw into a frontline city!" said Błaszczak.

This political scandal occurred in Poland against the backdrop of the upcoming parliamentary elections. Both the current ruling party "Law and Justice" and the Civic Platform are running in the elections.

The elections will be held on October 15, 2023. They will elect 560 members of the National Assembly (parliament) - 460 members of the Sejm (lower house) and 100 members of the Senate (upper house).

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, despite the European Commission's decision to lift restrictions on the import of Ukrainian grain on September 15, Poland will continue to block imports of Ukrainian agricultural products. This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
