North Korea called the NATO Summit Declaration condemning the DPRK's arms transfer to Russia an illegal document. The DPRK also threatened that it is ready to strengthen its resolute strategic opposition to the United States and NATO.

This statement by the DPRK Foreign Ministry spokesman was published by the North Korean state news agency KCNA. In particular, North Korea states that "the United States and NATO pose the most serious threat to global peace and security."

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK noted that it "strongly condemns and rejects the declaration", calling it "an illegal document that violates the legitimate rights of independent sovereign states and incites a new Cold War and military confrontation on a global scale".

Pyongyang has traditionally accused the United States and NATO of conspiring to destroy North Korea, and repeated the Russian propaganda thesis that the Alliance has destroyed the security environment in Europe with its policy of eastward expansion.

"We warn that NATO's globalization strategy pursued by the United States could create the danger of a world war... The DPRK will not miss such a serious threat and will carefully deter aggression and war with a stronger level of strategic counteraction and protect peace and security in the region and the rest of the world," the North Korean Foreign Ministry said.
