Macron says that ISIL organizers attempted several attacks in France

French President Emmanuel Macron has said that the ISIL terrorist group that claimed responsibility for the March 22 attack in Moscow also planned several attacks in France. The ISIL-K terrorist group has been planning to commit them for the past few months.

This was reported by LeParisen and Reuters. According to Macron, French intelligence services confirmed that it was an ISIL unit.

"The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for this attack, and the information we have, our (intelligence) services, as well as our main partners, indicates that it was indeed an Islamic State unit that provoked this attack," Macron said.

Due to the events in Moscow, France will raise the terrorist threat level in the country to the maximum.

Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin confirmed that the ISIL-Khorasan group had attempted to organize several attacks in France and Germany, particularly at the end of 2022, but had failed.

Macron also expressed his condolences over the tragedy in Moscow and promised to strengthen cooperation with Russia in the fight against terrorism. He also said that it would be "cynical and counterproductive" for Russia to blame Ukraine for the attack.

"I think it would be cynical and counterproductive for Russia itself and the safety of its citizens to use this context to try to turn it against Ukraine," he added.

As a reminder, on the evening of March 22, unidentified persons opened fire at the Crocus Concert Hall in the Moscow region, and then set the building on fire. As of 12:00 on March 23, the Russian Federation reported at least 150 dead and a significant number of injured, some of whom were hospitalized in serious condition.

– One of the suspects in the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall, Fariddun Shamsutdin, visited the building on March 7 and accidentally got into the lens of a concert hall photographer. He was attending one of the performances at the Crocus.

– The suspects in the Crocus City Hall attack were detained on the Russian border with Belarus.

– The MID said that Putin's words do not stand up to any criticism and indicate that Russian special services did not try to interfere with the organization of the terrorist attack or even may have contributed to it.
