IDF says 14,000 Hamas targets destroyed in a month, US warns Israel against occupying Gaza. Key facts

On Tuesday, Israel continued to carry out air strikes against Hamas

The Israeli Defense Forces announced that over 14,000 terrorist targets were attacked over the past month. The IDF also destroyed many Hamas militants, key infrastructure and weapons.

This was reported by CNN. Witnesses reported a number of explosions caused by Israeli air strikes in the central and southern part of the Gaza Strip on Tuesday.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant noted that IDF troops are located in the north in the "heart of Gaza City," and are conducting attacks on the Hamas command. Later, Netanyahu said that "Gaza City is surrounded" and the IDF continues to increase pressure on Hamas every hour and every day.

In addition, the Israeli Defense Forces reported that a nighttime air strike had killed Muhsin Abu Zina, one of the leading figures in Hamas' weapons production apparatus.

On Tuesday, 637 foreign citizens were evacuated from Gaza to Egypt through the Rafah border crossing. This is the largest number in a day since the evacuation began last week. 15 wounded Palestinians arrived in Egypt through the crossing for treatment.

Israel is under increasing pressure from the international community as a result of its continued operations against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. For example, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo said that Israeli strikes on civilian infrastructure in Gaza are "disproportionate" and "unacceptable," in particular, referring to Israel's attack on the Jabalia refugee camp. The UN Secretary-General also reiterated his calls for an "immediate humanitarian ceasefire".

At the same time, IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said there would be no ceasefire and repeated the statement that Hamas was using "its population as human shields."

The White House administration also warned Israel about the possible reoccupation of the Gaza Strip. This happened after Netanyahu's statements, in which he said that Israel accepts "overall responsibility for security" for an indefinite period after the end of the war. White House officials emphasized that reoccupation is "not good for Israel and its people."

Mark Regev, a senior adviser to Netanyahu, later noted that Israel's postwar plan does not provide for a "prolonged occupation" of Gaza, but that Israel will be responsible for security in the region. Regev noted that a distinction should be made between "security presence and political control."

"Israeli security forces must be present, but this does not mean that Israel is occupying Gaza, it does not mean that Israel will control the people of Gaza," the adviser said.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) are fighting in the center of Gaza City. The military is destroying Hamas terrorists in the Palestinian enclave who are trying to hide underground. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also said that Gaza is surrounded.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called the situation in the Gaza Strip, where the confrontation between the Israel Defense Forces and Hamas terrorists continues, "a nightmare" and "a crisis of humanity". According to him, what is happening in the enclave is more than just a humanitarian crisis.
