Netanyahu also spoke of the IDF's "impressive successes"

The Chief of Staff of the Israeli Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, said that the IDF is operating inside Gaza City and surrounding it from several directions. In general, Israel is "at the peak of hostilities".

This was reported by The Times of Israel and The Guardian. "We have moved to another important stage of the war. The forces are in the heart of the northern part of the Gaza Strip, operating in Gaza City, surrounding it, deepening [the ground offensive] and making progress," Halevi said.

He added that the fighting is taking place in a densely populated and complex urban area that requires professionalism and courage.

Halevi noted that this war has a "painful and heavy price": 18 soldiers have been killed in the ground operation so far.

He also emphasized that the IDF has an "obligation" to bring home all hostages held by Hamas and other terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip.

At the same time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu noted that Israeli troops are at the peak of the fighting after advancing through the outskirts of Gaza City.

"We are at the peak of the battle. We have made impressive gains and passed the outskirts of Gaza City. We are advancing," he said.

Netanyahu also spoke of the IDF's "impressive successes".

"Today I am with our soldiers on the battlefield. We are making very impressive progress, we are already more than the outskirts of Gaza City. We are moving forward. Nothing will stop us. We will move forward. We will advance and win," he added.
