DPRK is going to start producing drones developed jointly with Russia – NHK
This year, North Korea will start producing drones developed jointly with Russia. Pyongyang and Moscow have signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of unmanned technologies.
This is reported by NHK, which cites sources familiar with military relations between the two countries. Under the terms of the agreement, Russia will provide technical assistance for the development of several types of drones that North Korea will mass-produce.
It is noted that the agreement was reached against the backdrop of strengthening military ties between Moscow and Pyongyang. Last year, they signed a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement.
According to the sources, this agreement was made in exchange for the participation of North Korean troops in Russia's war against Ukraine. However, despite the rapprochement in the defense sphere, Russia will not support North Korea in developing nuclear weapons. Moscow fears that this will complicate its relations not only with the United States but also with neighboring states, including China.
As a reminder, the North Korean dictatorial regime continues to supply the Russian army not only with manpower but also with military equipment. The Russian army may receive additional KN-23 short-range ballistic missiles from the DPRK.
Earlier it was reported that the DPRK's M1991 launchers could pose a serious threat to the defense installations and howitzers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. No less alarming is the fact that the Russians can use M1991 to hit frontline cities, including Kharkiv, which is only 40 km from the Russian-Ukrainian border.
