In one of his first executive orders, US President Donald Trump suspended US aid to other countries for 90 days. During this period, a review will be conducted to determine whether the provision of assistance is in line with the political goals of the new administration. It is very important for Ukraine to take the right "counter-step" as soon as possible during this period.

This opinion was expressed on OBOZ.UA by Volodymyr Ohryzko, a diplomat, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and former Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council. He said what the Ukrainian government should do to avoid problems with assistance to our country.

The day before, Marco Rubio, speaking in the Senate before his confirmation as Secretary of State, said that the new administration had many questions about aid to Ukraine. And that "every dollar will be scrutinized."

"What is involved in military assistance to Ukraine is of a completely different nature than what President Trump and Rubio aretalking about. And if I were our government, I would very loudly invite 10, 20, 120 inspectors to Ukraine and say: "Our dear American friends, you supply us with this and that, and a really decent amount of money is being made there every year. Here, please, is our accounting, look at all our papers, look at all our documents, any points are open to you, we are not afraid of any inspections, because we know that it benefits Ukraine, that not a single penny, not a single dollar is lost," Ohryzko said.

According to the diplomat, this will immediately remove a lot of questions.

"Because, I assure you, there are many voices now who will shout that there is corruption in Ukraine, that some huge funds from this aid are being hidden in Ukraine, that weapons are being resold anywhere and anyhow, and so on," the former minister said.

According to Volodymyr Ohryzko, this step should be taken as soon as possible.

"The sooner we take a counter-step, the fewer such things will happen, and therefore the aid itself will not decrease in any way," the diplomat assured.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Volodymyr Ohryzko believes that Donald Trump is a certain chance for Ukraine. In his opinion, this is evidenced even by the first decrees that the US president signed immediately after taking office.
