After the talks between Foreign Ministers Wang Yi and Dmytro Kuleba, China said that Ukraine supports Beijing's position on Taiwan. Kyiv will adhere to the "one China" principle.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China. The ministry also expressed hope for further strengthening of political mutual trust and intensification of cooperation in various fields, including economics, trade, and agriculture.

It should be noted that Ukraine does not recognize Taiwan's independence, considers the island an integral part of China, and has no diplomatic relations with it. Official Taipei, on the other hand, has not declared its independence and claims to return its government to Beijing.

At the same time, our country maintains informal ties with Taiwan in the framework of trade, economic and cultural cooperation. The PRC considers Taiwan to be its retreating province, which should eventually be united with the Chinese mainland and does not rule out a forceful scenario to achieve this goal.

As a reminder, Dmytro Kuleba, who arrived on an official visit to China the day before, held talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. Their goal was to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as ending the war and accelerating Ukraine's recovery.

The talks between Kuleba and Wang Yi lasted more than three hours, longer than planned.

"It was a very deep and concrete conversation," a Ukrainian source in the delegation told the agency.

Also, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang Yi again spoke about "the crisis in Ukraine, which has been going on for three years," and China, in return, "has always been firmly committed to promoting a political solution to the crisis."

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

– The Center for Strategic and International Studies believes that Beijing can annex Taiwan even without fighting. The Chinese authorities continue to openly declare their intention to take control of Taiwan. In recent years, Beijing has significantly increased pressure on the island.

Recommendations

– In May 2024, Taiwan launched jets and put missile, naval, and ground units on alert. This was Taipei's response to China's military exercises around the self-governing island nation.
