On the morning of February 24, an explosion occurred on the territory of the Russian Consulate in Marseille (France). Preliminarily, unknown persons threw containers with incendiary mixture into the garden of the diplomatic mission.
This was reported by the BFMTV TV channel, citing the city's fire department. Russian propaganda has already called the incident a "terrorist attack."
"Shortly before eight in the morning, two Molotov cocktails were thrown at the Russian consulate. They hit the garden of the diplomatic building, and no one was injured," a French media outlet said.
About thirty firefighters and law enforcement officers were working at the scene.
It is noteworthy that Russian Consul General in Marseille Stanislav Oransky said in a comment to the media that the explosion had allegedly occurred "inside the consulate."
For her part, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the incident on the territory of the Russian diplomatic mission "has all the signs of a terrorist attack."
The Russian Consulate is located on Avenue Ambroise-Paré, in the 8th arrondissement of the city. In general, many diplomatic missions are grouped there, including those of Egypt, Tunisia, Armenia, São Tomé and Príncipe.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, on January 28, a man was detained in Stockholm who tried to break into the territory of the Russian Embassy. In particular, a 45-year-old driver drove a car into the gates of the Russian diplomatic mission in the Swedish capital, and he had already been involved in incidents with it in 2015 and 2018.
