A bus with Ukrainians overturns in Poland
On the night of January 27, a road accident involving a passenger bus from Ukraine occurred in Poland. As a result of the accident, 18 people were injured.
In total, 61 people were in the vehicle. This was reported by TVN24.
The accident occurred at about 4 a.m. on a road bend near the village of Gołębie, Lublin Voivodeship. The bus drove off the roadway and rolled over on its side.
According to a representative of the State Fire Service in Hrubieszów, Senior Captain Marcin Lebiedowicz, it was snowing and icy on this section of the road at the time of the accident. At the same time, rescuers said that weather conditions were unlikely to have caused the accident.
Emergency service representatives also noted that there were 59 passengers and two drivers on the bus, all citizens of Ukraine. Of these, 18 people were hospitalized with various injuries. The rest of the bus passengers were transported to the nearest community center.
In addition, rescuers warned that traffic on the highway where the accident occurred was significantly hampered. According to preliminary data, the bus was headin to Warsaw from Odesa.
According to the updated information from the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Oleh Nikolenko, 20 Ukrainian citizens sustained injuries of varying severity as a result of the accident. They are currently hospitalized, and all the injured are being provided with the necessary medical care.
The Consulate General of Ukraine in Lublin is cooperating with Polish law enforcement officers to clarify all the circumstances of the accident, and is monitoring the treatment of the injured citizens. The issue of providing another bus for the passengers is also being resolved.
