After prolonged and fierce fighting, Ukrainian troops were forced to retreat from Vuhledar, Donetsk region. In turn, the Russian occupation army continues its offensive in an attempt to capture other settlements.

The next target of Putin's troops may be the village of Velyka Novosilka in Zaporizhzhia region. This was reported by the UK military intelligence on social network X.

British intelligence noted that the capture of Vuhledar took place after the resumption of the offensive campaign of Russian troops in September 2024. It is reported that by the end of September, the occupiers had practically managed to surround the city, which led to the retreat of Ukrainian units.

In addition, British intelligence recalled that the terrorist country Russia has made irregular attempts to capture Vuhledar over the past two years. At the same time, the enemy suffered huge losses in manpower and equipment in this area of the front.

British intelligence also predicts that in the coming weeks, the Russian occupiers will try to continue their advance for Vuhledar. One of the enemy's likely targets is the town of Velyka Novosilka in Zaporizhzhia region, located on the T0509 road.

On October 2, the Defense Forces officially confirmed the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Vuhledar. The decision was made due to the threat of encirclement of the city and to preserve personnel and military equipment.

Earlier it was reported that the units of the Defense Forces withdrew from their positions in Vuhledar in a controlled manner, so the occupiers did not get their military equipment. The enemy will try to maximize the use of the captured city to its advantage, but it faces many difficulties along the way.

According to the Institute of War Studies, the Russians paid a very high price for the capture of Vuhledar. In particular, over the past two and a half years, Russian troops have conducted many unsuccessful assaults there, suffering enormous losses.
