What Avdiivka cost Putin's army: Ukrainian Armed Forces clarify enemy losses

The army of the aggressor country, Russia, has lost more than 1,300 armored vehicles and five aircraft in the four months of the offensive in the Avdiivka sector. In addition, almost fifty thousand occupants "demilitarized" on the outskirts of Avdiivka in fulfillment of Putin's task to capture it.

The losses of Russian troops were announced by the joint press center of the Tauride Defense Forces. They cover the period from October 10, 2023, to February 17, 2024.

"In the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian defenders inflicted huge losses on the enemy with their courage, resilience and heroism and destroyed a significant reserve of Russian occupants, which they planned to use in other parts of the front for offensive actions," the military said.

It is noted that during the four months of the active phase of the Avdiivka defense operation (10.10.2023-17.02.2024), a total of 47,186 soldiers from the ranks of Putin's army were eliminated in the Avdiivka direction.

In addition to this amount of manpower of the Russian Armed Forces, the defenders destroyed:

- 364 tanks;

- 248 artillery systems;

- 748 armored combat vehicles;

- five airplanes.

These statistics of Russian losses do not take into account how many Ukrainian soldiers shot down drones near Avdiivka, burned down various vehicles and special equipment, neutralized control points, ammunition depots and other important enemy targets.

"I thank each and every soldier for their resilience, courage and heroism! For each destroyed occupant, for each burned tank and armored vehicle! The fight goes on!" said Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavsky, commander of the Tavria operational and strategic group of troops.

According to Dmytro Likhovyi, a representative of the Tavria unit, the Russian army lost more than 47,000 soldiers during the capture of Avdiivka, 17,000 of whom were killed.

Shortly before the withdrawal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Avdiivka, soldiers of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade were sent to help them. During the time they were defending the city, they also inflicted significant losses on Russian troops: they eliminated 1,500 invaders, destroyed 20 units of Russian military equipment and more.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, military correspondent Bohdan Myroshnikov told what will happen to the Russian army after the capture of Avdiivka. For his part, officer of the 59th Separate Mechanized Brigade Serhiy Tsehotskyi emphasized that Avdiivka had fully fulfilled its task in the defense operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the decision to withdraw Ukrainian units was correct.
