The legendary Azov unit, which played a key role in the defense of Mariupol, is celebrating a decade since its creation. The unit, which quickly turned into a thunderstorm for the Russian occupiers, began with a small handful of volunteers who wanted to protect their homeland from Russian invaders.

Today, it is a powerful Special Forces brigade that destroys the invaders as efficiently as possible and makes them regret their decision to come to Ukrainian soil with war. The Azovs showed their ten-year journey in a three-minute video posted on the brigade's Facebook page.

"Azov is 10 years old. This is the path from a few dozen volunteers who had only motivation and faith in justice to a Special Forces brigade - one of the most effective units of the Defense Forces... This path was not easy, we have people to honor, people to remember, but there is no time to give up. It is our duty to continue the work of those who did not live to see this day. Our greatest motivation is revenge and the fight for our comrades who are still in captivity," the soldiers said.

Since 2014, the Azovs have continued to resist the Russian invaders. The unit's soldiers distinguished themselves in the battles for Mariupol, Maryinka, Ilovaisk, Shyrokyne, Berdiansk, Vodiane, Sopyne, Hnutove, Lebedynske, Pikuzy, Pavlopil, and the Svitlodarsk bulge before the full-scale invasion.

When Russia moved on a large-scale and without hiding behind deceptive phrases about "we are not there," Azov again had Mariupol. Velyka Novosilka, Orikhiv direction, Kreminna forests... And this list is still not complete.

"We are facing tough battles ahead. "Azov is ready to face them with honor. Glory to Ukraine," the unit summarized.

Earlier, the Azov Brigade showed footage of the battle near Terny . The soldiers not only repelled an enemy assault but also captured a Russian tank.
