"We were asked to do it": Putin again calls Russian army's escape from Kyiv region "a gesture of goodwill"

At a meeting with an African delegation, Putin again talks about a ''gesture of goodwill'' by Russians in Kyiv region

Russian President Vladimir Putin has once again described the withdrawal of Russian troops from the Kyiv region as a so-called gesture of goodwill. Allegedly, the Russian authorities were "asked" to do so in order to create conditions for a peace agreement.

The Russian dictator said this during a meeting with the heads of delegations of African states, according to the Putin administration's website. With these statements, the Russian president is once again trying to cover up the defeats of his military, whose plan failed.

"...in fact, a draft of this agreement was agreed upon, but after the withdrawal of our troops from Kyiv - and we were asked to do so to create conditions for the conclusion of the final agreement - the Kyiv authorities abandoned all previous agreements," Putin said. - "Of course, I won't talk about the details of what we agreed on now, as it would probably not be very correct. But let me remind you that not everyone knows it, but we know it well."

He also reiterated the Ukrainian side's unwillingness to resume dialogue and negotiate an end to the war.

Earlier, OBOZREVATEL reported that Danilov was sceptical about the possibility of peace talks on Russian terms. The NSDC secretary also categorically denied the West's possible "reproaches" for the "slow counter-offensive". Oleksiy Danilov stressed that the Defence Forces are doing everything possible with the means at their disposal.

As a reminder, Lithuania supported Ukraine on the anniversary of the de-occupation of Zmiinyi Island in the Black Sea. The diplomats ridiculed the fact that Russian propaganda called the Russian Armed Forces' escape from Zmiinyi a "gesture of goodwill" and stressed that it was time for the occupiers to repeat this scenario.
